Introducing Nicoya Lifescience’s ALTO SPR
The Nicoya Alto SPR system is now available as shared equipment at Hatch.Bio. Real-time, label-free kinetic profiling for your compounds, antibodies, and proteins without the capital investment.

Our resident's experience:

“The Nicoya Alto has helped us rapidly build SPR expertise while evaluating our novel binders across multiple assay orientations..."

"Its single-use chip architecture and on-chip dilution capabilities support precise single-cycle and multi-cycle binding measurements while eliminating contamination risk between runs. This has allowed us to optimize assays quickly, confidently, and with fewer workflow barriers.

Remote access through The Hatch.Bio Labs’ Wi-Fi and software-agnostic data outputs have also made the Alto easy to incorporate into our day-to-day workflow and computational analysis pipelines.

In addition, the Nicoya team has been happy to work with us in our process of optimization, providing keen insight and being willing to review raw data as we became power users of the Alto. Nicoya's own website has a strong library of reference teaching and has some key tools to easily digest data into presentation-ready graphics.”

How it works:

Surface plasmon resonance detects biomolecular binding in real-time without fluorescent labels or dyes. You get direct measurement of association and dissociation rates (ka, kd) and affinity (KD) in near-physiological conditions.

How the Alto SPR upgrades the assay experience:

Traditional assays rank compounds. SPR explains why one binder beats another with detailed kinetics. For regulatory submissions and lead optimization, kinetics drive better decisions.

  • Real-Time Kinetics: Measure ka, kd, and KD directly. No labels, no endpoints, no calculations.
  • High-Throughput: 16 parallel channels for dose-response curves and library screens.
  • Flexible Chemistry: Immobilize via streptavidin, His-tag, amine coupling, or custom ligands.
  • Regenerable Surfaces: Reuse sensor chips to reduce cost per experiment.

Technical specs for technical folks:

  • Detection limit: ~5 nM
  • Parallel channels: 16
  • Temperature range: 4–40 °C
  • Data acquisition: Real-time
