Hatch.Bio Labs, originally founded as Nest.Bio Labs by entrepreneurs from the MIT ecosystem, has emerged as a leader in biotech incubation. As a startup ourselves, we intimately understand the challenges innovators face. Since launching our first facility in East Cambridge in 2018, we’ve supported over 50 startups that have collectively raised more than $2.5 billion and created thousands of jobs.

Part-Time Facility Lab Assistant

Facility Laboratory Assistant (not a research position) - Entry Level, Part Time
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM

General Overview:
We seek an energetic and motivated part-time lab operations technician. A successful candidate will have problem-solving skills, proven time management skills, and the ability to work independently. Under the supervision of the Site Manager, the Facility Laboratory Assistant will proactively complete regular maintenance and cleaning tasks, while ensuring compliance with laboratory rules and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine laboratory cleaning, including countertops, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and washing glassware
- Support daily operations of the lab, such as monitoring and replacing compressed gas cylinders and overseeing penthouse mechanical systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Manage the storage and disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with safety protocols and regulatory guidelines
- Coordinate and assist with vendor visits related to laboratory equipment and services
- Oversee shipping and receiving tasks
- Carry out general maintenance and handyman duties as needed to support facility operations
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Excellent English communication and time management skills
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Experience working in a laboratory setting, including waste removal, is a plus
Schedule:
Part-time–25 hours with potential to increase hours based on performance.
