Brickbottom Artist Alexandra Rozenman Opens a New Chapter in Somerville’s Innovation Community
Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting an afternoon with Alexandra Rozenman, a celebrated local painter and long-standing member of the Brickbottom artist community. Guests gathered at Hatch.Bio Labs to explore a selection of Rozenman’s visually poetic paintings and meet the artist, who shared more details about her techniques and backstory.

Rozenman, a Russian-American artist with more than three decades of national and international exhibitions, paints pieces that explore the emotional terrain of displacement, identity, and memory. Her layered, symbolic compositions reflect the complexity of living between cultures and the search for belonging. Her work is held in public and private collections across the U.S. and Europe, including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Moscow.

This event marked an exciting milestone—it was the first in a series of artist features in our biotech space, as part of our growing commitment to showcasing the work of local creatives who have played a vital role in shaping the cultural identity of Somerville. The Brickbottom artist community, just steps away from Hatch.Bio Labs on Chestnut Street, has been a cornerstone of the city’s creative scene for over four decades, so we’re excited to see what synergies emerge as we continue to introduce the energy of artists like Rozenman to our community of innovators and entrepreneurs.
